Man set to wed his fiancée on the same day they met in NYSC camp

Trending on social media, ex corp members set to wed on the same day they met on camp for their one year's national youth service.

This was made known when Hgemon, as he is known on twitter, took to his account to share short stories with photos on how their journey began

Below are what he wrote.

Short story (thread)...I remember when I got posted to camp, Taraba was my last choice..but who would have thought I'd meet a wonderful woman who would be my wife ❤❤..

Spent the next 8 months getting to know her as friends and I actually fell deeply in love with her. Thankfully Jalingo has beautiful scenery and I decided to shoot my shot on one of our hikes ❤❤...she said yes 😁😁

Fast forward a few months later, 3 to be exact..I popped the question on one knee ❤😁

And now, I get the chance to marry my best friend on the 24th of November which happens to be the very day we met at camp in 2016, November 24th ❤

Lagos police arrests woman who burnt her 12-year-old houseboy with hot iron for taking her soft drink

Lagos State police command over the weekend arrested one Sarah Eteigbe for allegedly placing a hot pressing iron on her 12-year-old houseboy, Friday Obi, for taking her soft drink in Bariga area of Lagos.

The 35-year-old trader brought Obi from Imo State, 4 years ago, to live with her in her one-room apartment at 17 Mutairu Street, Pedro, Bariga. Shortly after Obi settled in the house, Sarah allegedly started beating him. Sarah’s landlord and Obi’s teachers were said to have cautioned her against inflicting injuries on the boy whenever she punished him.

The beating came to a head last Friday after teachers noticed bloodstains on his uniform. Upon enquiry, he disclosed that his aunty burnt him with hot pressing iron.

The Local Government Education Authority at Shomolu contacted Coordinator of the Child Protection Network, Toyin Okanlanwon, who subsequently reported the matter to the Police.

During interrogation, Sarah claimed Obi drank a bottle of seven-up "without my permission.” However, while describing his ordeal in the hands of Sarah, Obi said: “she always beats me at the slightest opportunity.  There was a time she cut me with a razor blade. On this day in question, I returned from school late and by the time I got home, there was no food. I had to drink the 7-Up because I was hungry.”

Sarah has since been charged to court. She was granted N200,000 bail and remanded at the Ikoyi Female Prison, pending when she would meet the bail conditions, while the case was adjourned till December 3

Twin brothers have died in a fire outbreak after their mother allegedly left them alone at their home in Calabar and snuck out to see her boyfriend.

The fire outbreak reportedly occurred after the mother, simply identified as Mrs. Offiong, allegedly left home by 1:00am to meet her boyfriend last Sunday at the Njahasang area in Calabar Municipal local government area of the state.

According to reports, before Mrs Offiong left, she left a candle on for her kids as there was no power. Unfortunately, the candle burnt out and began to burn the surface it was on, and the twins, aged 5, were burnt in the fire.

Confirming the story, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Cross River State, DSP Irene Ugbo, said that the incident occurred on Sunday night.

Gunmen kidnapped 5 NYSC members in Imo state

Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday kidnapped five National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were travelling to their orientation camps in Akwa Ibom and Rivers states.

Two other passengers on the bus conveying the corps members were also kidnapped.

The victims were travelling from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to Rivers and Akwa Ibom states where they were posted to undertake their three-week NYSC orientation.

They were kidnapped on the Owerri-Port Harcourt Expressway and taken to the Umuapu forest in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

Briefing journalists after the victims were rescued by the police, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, said the kidnappers established contact with the families of the corps members and demanded N5m ransom.

The CP gave the names of the corps members as Abiola Temitope, Olubisi Adekanmi, Jose Temitayo, Folarin Opeyemi and Shonibare Ademola, while the other two victims were identified as Leonard Uzondu and Raymond Ojodahe.

The CP said, “The victims were travelling from Ibadan to Port Harcourt. Five out of the seven of them are prospective corps members.

“They were on their way to the NYSC orientation camps in Rivers and Akwa Ibom states for the three weeks camping.

“They were kidnapped around 5am on Wednesday at Umuapu, on the Owerri-Port-Harcourt Expressway.

“The kidnappers took them to a forest and dispossessed them of all their belongings, including money, phones, ATM cards and voter cards.

“They compelled them to call their relatives at home to speak to them. Immediately contact was established, they instilled fear in the parents and demanded N5m for their freedom.”

The CP explained that through intelligence gathering, the operatives of the Counter Terrorism Unit of the command were alerted.

He said, “The operatives went into the bush and on sighting the officers, the kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled. We rescued them unhurt, but the hoodlums made away with their valuables.

“This is part of the dividends of community policing. I urge Imo State residents to keep sharing information with the police. We cannot do it alone.”

Galadanchi said he had ordered investigation into the incident with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects.

One of the victims, Abiola, said, “They stopped our bus and ordered us at gunpoint to follow them into the forest. They were five with guns and machetes.

“In the bush, they took our belongings except our credentials and ordered us to call our parents. They made a demand of N5m, but they later brought it down to N3m.

“They ordered us to close our eyes. They were even quarrelling on how to share our personal belongings which they took from us. It was in the process that the police intervened and they abandoned us and ran away.”
