Chad dampens Eagles' qualification bid

Chad announced its withdrawal from qualifying series and Nigeria must now beat Egypt to qualify
According to Guardian report
Chad yesterday dampened Nigeria’s faint hope of qualifying for the Gabon 2017 African Nations Cup when it announced its withdrawal from the qualifying series. To that effect, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has subsequently cancelled all the matches played by the Chadians as well as the points from such games. Consequently, Nigeria, which beat the Chadians in their first game of the series, have forfeited the points from that game and therefore, have only two points from the draws from the games against Tanzania and Egypt.

Egypt also lost the three points they got from their game against Chad, but they are on four points following their win against Tanzania and the draw they got in Kaduna on Friday.
The development has effectively killed Nigeria’s chances of qualifying as one of the best second placed teams as only three teams are participating in the qualifiers ion Group G.

Announcing the cancellation of the points, ACF said in a statement yesterday that: “In conformity with Article 61 of the regulations of the competition which states: “If a team withdraws from the qualifying phase organised in groups, all its results shall be annulled (points, scored and conceded goals).” “Consequently, the three matches of Chad of Group G are cancelled and the results will not be taken into consideration. “Accordingly, following the decision of CAF Executive Committee dated
January 15 2015, any group reduced to three teams following the withdrawal of a team will have only the group winner qualifying for the final tournament.

“Furthermore, the Chadian Football Federation has been fined 20,000 US Dollars and also barred from participating in the next edition of the AFCON in conformity with Article 59 of the regulations of the Competition which states “any association declaring forfeit after the start of the matches is liable to a fine of twenty thousand (20,000) U.S. dollars. It will also not be allowed to participate in the next edition of the AFCON.” The implication is that Nigeria must beat Egypt in Alexandria tomorrow to retain any chance of making the Gabon 2017 African Nations Cup.

Father raped his 12years old daughter and got her pregnant.

The police of Bayelsa state just arrested Mr Bamekpa from Ogbia Local Government for raping his 12years old daughter, getting her pregnant and then take her to a quack doctor to terminate her four months old pregnancy. The girl said the father started raping her when she was 11years old.
The victim, Queen, who could not take the repeated repeated rape incident from her father, decided to run away from home“There was nobody to help me. He kept doing it despite my efforts to stop him. It was a painful and violent experience. I ran away from home because there was
a time I bled so much from my private part.

When I became pregnant and he heard about it, he handed me over to a lady who took me through an
unsuccessful process of abortion. I have been suffering series of health issues after the abortion.”
Speaking on the travails of his niece, her uncle, David Apigi, expressed shock at the way she was allegedly violated by her father. “My niece told me the trauma she has been passing through in father’s house and how her father has been using her, turning her to his second wife. She said he had sex with her to the extent that he aborted her four-month-old pregnancy.

She ran to me and begged me not to allow her to return to her father’s house because she was tired. I decided to accommodate her. The father started looking for her without knowing she was
with me.”

He said he reported the matter to the Kolo Police Station but asked them to hold on to enable him make some investigations. After his investigations, he called his cousin, Rex Ogboku, in Abuja who reported the matter to the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).

However the unsatisfactory and seeming sluggish response from FIDA caused him to take more drastic action. “My cousin, Rex Ogboku, in Abuja called FIDA to inform them about the situation.
But the way FIDA was going about the issue was too sluggish for my liking.

I decided to contact the Operation Rescue. We went back to the police and the Otuasiga Police Station arrested the man. The process through which the Otuasiga Police Station was handling the case was not satisfactory. Imagine a situation where somebody was arrested and while in detention he was still having access to his phone, making calls.

He even called me. He called my uncle, trying to plead with him for settlement. I moved the case to Kolo Police Station.” He said his niece’s father was notorious for sexual perversion, alleging also that he had slept with his biological sisters. He said the suspect repeatedly had carnal knowledge of his cousin’s daughter and forced her to commit abortion five times. He said some of his victims were ready to testify against him.

Also speaking on the sad story, Princess Elizabeth Egbe, a leader of a Human rights group Operation Rescue (OPER), who is handling the case, said: "Our investigations showed that the little girl had been perpetually raped by her father who impregnated her and forced
her through abortion that has left her with so many health problems. When the girl was pregnant, she did not know. Her stepmother discovered she was pregnant
and informed the father. The father handed her over to a lady who took her to a quack doctor for an abortion.

After the abortion, the girl came back home and discovered she was bleeding from her private part. The father took her to that same lady who then took her to other places. The girl is still in pains and
highly traumatized. She has been going through series of medical treatments. We want the police to really investigate this matter and get to the root of the case. We want the doctor to be arrested, and we want everybody that is involved to be arrested and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to other people who are involved in this act of perpetual evil against the girl-child. The girl-child is tender and has a lot to contribute to nation-building.” The suspect will soon be arraigned in court

Look at what Emeka Ike told Ibinabo

On a chat yesterday Emeka Ike open up his mind to the past actor guild president.
In a chat with Saturday Beats, He said, ”My victory at the court has nothing to do with Ibinabo’s predicament. This case is different and if Ibinabo is going to go to jail for my own case, they should come and beg me. Instead of them to come and beg me, they are still going to the press to say all sorts of rubbish about me. There is still a second jail term for Ibinabo. It is called contempt of court
and it would also include Segun Arinze. People have threatened to kill me but I am not scared of them. I am waiting for them and I would look them in the face and tell them that they are evil and I am righteous.
I did not take the issue to the police but straight to the court and I am happy that justice has been served. Anyone that ties Ibinabo’s plight to my victory is only trying to blackmail me and I know they would not stop blackmailing me. How can anyone say that I sent Ibinabo to jail? Am I the Giwa family or the government?” How can I be happy that Ibinabo has been sentenced to jail? I feel very bad.
The people saying that I am happy about the sentence are actually Ibinabo’s enemies. This is a lady that was used because of the powers she could garner and control. Some people were using her and now that they have messed her up, they are still using her in prison. Ibinabo would never say that Emeka Ike sent her to jail, it is impossible because she knows why she is there. What I was only telling Nigerians is that people of Ibinabo’s status do not contest for any public office. Should we stop telling the truth?

She had a criminal issue in court.Let’s leave sentiments, we have to be realistic. I cannot be happy about her redicament because it is rather unfortunate that she is surrounded by the wrong people and advisers; she was surrounded by sycophants. Instead of them to tell her how to solve her problem, they were pushing her to jail and now that she is in jail, they will not leave her alone. Why did they not advise her to form a team and go to Giwa’s family house and roll on the floor for forgiveness?

They could have sent her away for days but they would not send her away forever. We are a cultural
people, I am sure that after going repeatedly, an elder in the family would plead on her behalf and say something like, ‘our son is dead and nothing can bring him back, let us just forgive her.’ She should have been very remorseful but she wasn’t. We told Nigerians that some of us would not agree but they began to call us names because we took the matter to court,”

Two female bombers killed in maiduguri

Early hours of today two female suicide bombers was killed in maiduguri. Here is the report

Guardian report
Two suspected female suicide bombers were killed in early hours of Friday by Nigerian troops in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The two bombers were spotted by civilian vigilantes assisting the military against Boko Haram at Molai around 1:00 am, vigilante Babakura Kolo said. “When the vigilantes flashed their torchlights on them and demanded to know their identities, one of the women detonated her explosives while the other one ran and hid in an abandoned building,” he said.

He said soldiers rushed to the scene on hearing the explosion where they joined the vigilantes in searching for
the other bomber. She was found holed up in the building and the soldiers “shot and killed her because she was trying to set off her explosives”, said Kolo, whose account was supported by Musa Ari, another vigilante. Molai, which lies six kilometres (2.5 miles) from Maiduguri, has been repeatedly attacked by Boko Haram. On March 16 two female suicide bombers disguised as male
worshippers struck at a mosque in the area during morning prayers, killing 25 people and injuring more than 32 others.

Boko Haram has been carrying out suicide bombings often using female bombers and girls as part of its more than six-year armed campaign to establish an Islamic state in northern Nigeria. The violence has claimed 17,000 lives and displaced 2.6 million from their homes.

A 14 years old girl was bruised by teacher and principal

A 14-year-old girl, Anyalewechi Ogechi at Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary Grammar School in Bariga,
Lagos was heavily bruised by her teachers’ and principal’s beating. Her back and buttocks were visibly red and swollen.

Punch reports,
The victim was said to have been punished after a prefect of the school, identified only as Zainab,
complained to the principal that Ogechi returned a slap she gave
her for “being rude”. It was learnt that the principal and the teachers also took turns to slap the Senior Secondary School 2 student and also asked the prefect to slap her. Ogechi was said to have been treated at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, after the floggings. She told PUNCH Metro that her ordeal started after the prefect challenged her for not carrying a
chair. She said, “Last Wednesday, I got to school around 8am. I was asked to take some chairs from a class to a hall where a programme for principals and school teachers would hold later in the day. “The prefect challenged me for not participating, but I explained that I was waiting for my turn to carry the chairs.

“She said I was rude to her and ordered me to kneel down. I refused and told her I was sick.
She said if I didn’t obey her, she would slap me. I said I didn’t do anything wrong and she couldn’t
slap me. She said if I repeated that she would do it, and I repeated it. “She slapped me and out of
annoyance, I returned the slap. She then went to report to the principal.” It was learnt that the principal, identified as Mrs. Coker, summoned Ogechi and ordered her to kneel down. The victim alleged that after the principal slapped her four times, other teachers present took turns
to assault her as well. “They called the prefect and asked her to slap me in their presence and she did that four times. A teacher, Mr. Balogun, ordered me to remove my tight and he flogged me on the buttocks.

“After this, I was asked to sit for my exam in the vice principal’s office. When I was done, the principal gave the VP a letter, saying I should be made to cut some grass afterwards.” It was gathered that although school closed officially at 3pm, the 14-year-old did not return home till
5pm. She was said to have been taken to LASUTH, where she was treated and placed on medication.
The ministry of Health and Lagos State government is currently investigating the case.

Boy and step father arrested over secret burial of mother

The police in Yenegoa, the Bayelsa State capital, have arrested and detained a 16-year old secondary
school student, Larry Godsgift, and his 53-year old step father, Seimukumo Aganju, over their alleged involvement in the mysterious death and secret burial of his mother in Akenpai area of the state.

The woman, 43, identified as Joyce Sawyer, was an indigene of Odi, in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Council area. She was reported to have died on March 13, in her home after a long battle with strange illnesses, which include a large sore on her leg. The Special Anti-vice squad of the Nigerian Police arrested the duo, after family of the deceased raised the alarm, days after her disappearance.

Reports say, the death of Madam Sawyer, was kept secret by the suspects, who allegedly secretly buried her behind their home, without the knowledge of other family members. It was further gathered that attempts by the deceased’s son to prevail on the stepfather to inform one of his uncles failed, as he accused his in-laws of not showing concern while the deceased was sick.

Police sources said that though the investigation team was awaiting the outcome of forensic and autopsy tests carried out on the corpse, the suspects have not been charged with any offence.

However, close family sources said the relationship between the detained husband and her in-laws have been frosty, noting however that the decision to bury their daughter against tradition and without informing them is criminal and suspicious. It was gathered that the deeds would have gone unnoticed if not for the Bank Verification Number (BVN) required by the Verification team of the state government for all state workers.

However, the cat was let out of the bag when a friend of the deceased woman, who was a staff of a local council, came calling to alert her on the need for her to leave the sick bed and come forward to submit her BVN. It was this juncture that it was discovered that she had died and burned without the knowledge of anyone.

”Don’t Sell Your Self Short JustBecause of A Ring” by Benita Okojie To Single Ladies

Gospel singer, Benita Okojie, advises young singles ladies against bowing to the pressures of marriage in message she shared on her Instagram page:

Dear Sister, I know that now that you’re done with school and have a steady job. The most asked question from parents, relatives and even friends is “When are you getting married?” For our parents; they want to carry their grand child. Our siblings; they can’t wait to be called Uncle and Aunty Our Neighbours and Relatives; can’t wait to see little junior running round the house.

They have every right to want this as much as we all do but everything will happen in God’s time. The pressure is real and so many people who married because of pressure will tell you that you shouldn’t make that decision just because there’s pressure to. Don’t sell your self short just because of a ring
and change in Status! There’s a blessing in Waiting. Waiting for God’s Time. While you wait. Don’t sit at home. Meet people, Share your values, Interests and faith as youm prayerfully trust God to bring you the Mr Right.

The greatest tragedy in life is to marry someone else’s Rib because your destinies are intertwined. May You find your own Rib! #InJesusName #NoPressure #GodsTime

Johan Cruyff dies after cancer battle

Johan Cruyff, one of the greatest footballers in history, died on Thursday at the age of 68 from lung
cancer, his family announced. The Dutchman “died peacefully in Barcelona, surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle with cancer”, said a statement on Cruyff’s official website.
“It’s with great sadness that we ask you to respect the family’s privacy during this their time of grief.”

Cruyff won three European Cups as a player with Ajax Amsterdam and Ballon d’Or titles in 1971 with Ajax and 1973 and 1974 with Barcelona, where he starred from 1973 to 1978. Cruyff is considered one of the best four players in history alongside Pele of Brazil, Diego Maradona of Argentina and France’s Michel Platini. With his precision passes, speed, technique and goalscoring ability, Cruyff set new standards as a player.

He was the incarnation of Total Football that took the Dutch team to the World Cup final in 1974. He inspired a new generation of footballers. “Playing football is very simple, but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is,” he once said. As a coach, Cruyff led Barcelona to their first European Cup title in 1992.

Cruyff was once a heavy smoker who gave up after heart bypass surgery in 1991. He started sucking lollipops onm the touchline at Barcelona games. Cruyff also appeared in a Catalan government advert, saying: “Football has given me everything in life, tobacco almost took it all away.”
He revealed in October last year that he had lung cancer. He said in February that he had received “very positive” results about his battle. “Right now, I have the feeling that I am 2-0 up in the first half of a match that has not finished yet. But I am sure that I will end up winning,” he added in a statement. News of his death still came as a shock to the football world and tributes quickly flooded in. “He was the best player of all time,” French legend Michel Platini told AFP. “I have lost a friend, the world has lostn a great man. I admired him,” Platini added.

“The ’14’ will never be the same. RIP Johan Cruyff,” said modern-day Spanish hero Xabi Alonso, now with Bayern Munich, on Twitter in a tributen referring to Cruyff’s number 14 shirt. “Goodbye to one of the legends of the history of football,” said Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos. While Cruyff made his name at Ajax, where he started at the age of 17, he made his football home in Barcelona. “Barça soon began to reap the rewards as the Dutch magician helped Barça to the league title in his first season, and went on to win his second and third
Ballon d’Or,” the club said in a tribute. “He quickly became an icon for Barça.

“His acrobatic strike against Atletico Madrid and the 5-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu (against Real
Madrid) in 1974, among many other great moments, will live long in the memory of Barça fans.” Cruyff returned as manager in 1988. “He was in the dugout for eight seasons, during which time he led the club through its most successful ever period up until that point.”
Barcelona won four consecutive league titles and their first ever European Cup in May 1992 at Wembley, beating Sampdoria of Italy 1-0. Cruyff was named Europe’s player of the century in 1999.
